If You're Thinking Of Working From Home...

I'm always so thrilled when a sufferer asks me about how they can work from home by setting up their own online business. Not just because of how liberating it is to become financially independent but also because it's just so much fun...

YOU choose the topic of your online business - and so if you make it a topic you love, then work becomes play!

Well recently a sufferer asked me what she could do for an online business, and what this 'SBI' that I keep going on about was all about. Here's my reply:

-------------

Many people make their living online - and a good living too. And the reason I recommend SBI (Site Build It!) is because it literally builds the web site for you. But if that was all it did, I wouldn't be recommending it.

The reason why I use it and am such a fan is because it teaches you (guides you) how to build a successful online business. And provides you with all the tools you need in order to do that.

So you don't need to know about any coding. It builds the web pages for you. It also has all the web marketing tools all in one place - and teaches you step by step, how to use them (very easy and simple to do). And it saves time and gets things right first time - and time is something that I, as a sufferer, can't afford to waste!

Regarding the question about whether it's possible to make money with your own web site...

Well as long as you follow the steps outlines in SBI, the answer is a resounding yes. I recommend you read this page:

The problem with people who try and set up web sites to make money is that they do it the completely wrong way round (i.e. try to sell things first instead of writing content to get the traffic first!) and spend either too little at first on their web hosting (and end up spending a lot more to get the tools they need), or spend far too much on unnecessary tools and services.

You obviously can go for cheaper web hosting, or free web hosting, and buy all the tools separately but I wouldn't advise it unless you were an online marketing professional who knew how to code anyway. And ofcourse it would be a lot more expensive for you in the long run.

When it comes to running a successful online business, that makes you money, the key is to find the topic on which you wish to write about. Let me explain:

When it comes to web sites and making money online, it all comes down to one thing - traffic. The more traffic you get, the more potential you have to make money. The way in which you choose to make your money all depends on what monetizing options you choose - but quite frankly - this should be the last step in your process. This is where most people go wrong you see. They start with the monetizing part - the wrong way round!

I probably don't explain it as well as SBI (Site Build It! does) - which is what I use for sleepydust, so if you want to see what I'm trying to say, take a look here:

Click here for more on what to do in order to succeed online... C-T-P-M!

On that page you'll see that the process you need to follow is called:

Content - Traffic - Presell - Monetize

(otherwise known as C-T-P-M)

So first of all, you need to write content, and lots of it. And this means you need to decide on a topic - something that you're really passionate about, that you wouldn't mind spending day in, day out on (so be careful what you choose here!!).

Your topic should not be too wide (say 'animals') but should not be too narrow either (e.g. snorkleback frogs that only inhabit bolivia - ok I made them up but you get what I mean!).

As you may well know, Sleepydust uses Site Build It (SBI). SBI was designed for people who have no clue about web sites or how to build and market them. I think the best way of getting a 'feel' of Site Build It is by visiting this page here:

Click here for a quick tour of SiteBuildIt! (SBI!)...

You'd think that that was a recipe for failure but in fact they have success stories that are unmatched on the Internet and that's why I love SBI so much - it actually works as long as you follow the simple steps. Over 61% of their clients' web sites rank in the top 3% (I think these results have increased since). Nothing else comes anywhere near. Don't take my word for it though - here's the proof:

Put it this way - a 14 year old girl started a web site (using SBI) on her favourite family holiday location (anguilla) and two years later, she's earning thousands of dollars per month from all sorts of different monetizing options.

In fact, you can read more about her as well as other inspirational stories at the address below (just click on 'growth and self reliance'):

Her web site wasn't even anything 'flashy' - but it brought in hundreds - thousands of visitors per day. And the trick is to get traffic to your site - after that, you just pick and choose what you want to sell to them.

Here's another article I think you'd find useful:

As for what your online business could be about, this article might help:

And there's an article by 'Ken Evoy' (who runs SBI) that has some helpful tips in the March issue of the Sleepydust Emagazine (second article called 'Make Your Knowledge Sell'):

And ofcourse I am more than happy to help you figure out what you could do for an online business too.

As a good starting point, here is what I would list - but I'd think long and hard about each point! This part is important!:

* your skills
* your interests
* what you used to do when you were a kid when time stood still and hours would fly by without you noticing
* what you used to do as a teenager when time stood still and hours would fly by without you noticing
* the types of magazines you read
* the types of books you read
* which sections you read in the paper or what types of web sites you like to surf
* what you like watching on tv
* past jobs you've had
* topics you'd like to learn more about but never got round to doing
* your current situation regarding your health, your finances, your spirituality
* where do you live? Is it an interesting enough place to write about? Or do you have a favorite holiday spot? The most booming part of internet business at the moment is tourism and property. People are looking on the internet for places to visit on their holidays etc. It doesn't have to be on a carribean island - if you live in a city or a pretty village or sea-side town, chances are, people will be looking for info on the best places to visit, the best hotels, the best restaurants and clubs...
* anything and everything for which you have a skill, interest, or passion.

Then try and link those things together somehow (or moreover, a few of those things together).

If you need a hand, you can always send me your list and I'll come up with some ideas for you. It's always a good idea to come up with a handful of ideas then pick the most profitable one.
