Media Article: ' Antidepressant Duloxetine Effective In Treating Women's Fibromyalgia'

Here's an interesting article about duloxetine's effect female Fibromyalgia patients:

"The antidepressant duloxetine (Cymbalta) appears to be a safe and effective treatment for fibromyalgia symptoms in female patients with or without major depressive disorder, according to data from two clinical trials presented at the annual meeting of the American Academy of Pain Medicine.

[According to Dr. Lesley Arnold, the lead investigator and an associate professor of psychiatry at the University of Cincinnati,] "(...) pain was significantly reduced with both the 60 mg once-daily dose and the 60 mg twice-daily dose. (...) Second, the improvement in pain was independent of the presence of major depressive disorder or the effect on mood, suggesting an independent effect of duloxetine on pain. Third, in addition to improving pain, duloxetine treatment also improved some aspects of function and quality of life."
